I have never understood the people that pay huge lumps of cash for wide-angle lenses until I tried out the Tokina 11-16 2.8 for myself. The first thing that caught my eye was the price tag, which was actually quite reasonable for a lens of this type. I thought that the build quality would be much worse than that of a Nikkor or Canon but once again, I was surprised to find that this is not the case. The Tokina is as sturdy as they come and at a distance, I would easily mistake this lens for a first party product. The image quality was the biggest shock and my mouth literally hung open when I saw the shots that it can produce. I always thought wide-angle lenses like this were just for gimmicky shots so it was definitely an eye opener seeing for myself what it is really capable of.

I am having the worst time getting myself to focus. I am just not interested in my work at all. It feels like it makes my head go numb after awhile, and while I do take breaks, after a full day of doing it I really feel depressed. And the problem is that there does not seem to be anything for me to do that is fun. I used to like to go hiking, and I think I still do want to go hiking, but lately I just feel too worn out and cold to want to go. Fortunately, my dog will not take no for an answer, so I take him out at least every other day for an hour and a half walk. We go off into the common area and then walk out beyond our housing development under the high power lines until we are at the local hiking paths. And then, because I feel like I have to go back to work, we turn around. We need to keep going some day soon.
